As our nation enters the new climate resilient economy, SLATE-Z works to ensure that South Los Angeles residents are trained/prepared for the economic opportunities ahead and that the high-quality jobs that will result from these investments are ones that can foster economic opportunity, stability, and mobility for South Los Angeles families.

Definitions:
Adult/Dislocated Worker Placements: WIOA customers ages 18 and over that have recorded employment as an outcome at program exit or closure in the CalJOBS system.

Sector-Based Job Placements
Between 2016-2023, there were over 3,800 sector-based job placements through various workforce programs.
Over 3,200 were in construction, 371 were in healthcare, and 215 were targeted local hires.

Definitions:
Construction Sector job placements occurred at sites such as the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, BMO Stadium, SoFi Stadium, 6th St. Bridge, Metro Projects, LACCD, LAUSD, County of L.A., etc.
Targeted Local Hire job placements are alternate job pathways into City civil service via full-time, paid, on-the-job training for entry-level City positions. TLH provides individuals an opportunity to be randomly selected for referral to City departments in order to participate in their hiring process and be considered for entry-level jobs. The Targeted Local Hire program targets individuals from vulnerable and underserved populations, including but not limited to:
- Veterans
- Persons living with disabilities
- Transgender individuals
- Older workers
- Disconnected Youth, Foster Youth, and Transition Age Youth
- Former Gang Members
